Merchandiser – Fremont, NE
This is a full-time, exempt position.
Introduction: Strategically located in East Central Nebraska, this ADM Grain Elevator plays an integral role in the local corn and bean market for ADM.
It provides support to the Fremont Soybean Plant (Downtown) as well as the Columbus Ethanol Plant (40mi West) and Lincoln Soybean Plant (50mi South).
Always customer focused, this location relies solely on producer origination and cultivating those relationships to achieve future success.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED: Assisting with the merchandising duties for the Fremont Elevator and Lincoln Premium Poultry (Costco).
Collaborate with the greater Nebraska ADM team to source grain into its Columbus ethanol plant as well as beans into the Fremont and Lincoln bean plants.
Continue to build on offering top notch customer service through hands on accounting, origination and day to day operations.
Learn the workings of a country elevator as well as help coordinate truck logistics.
Analyze and forecast local corn and bean markets and competitor activities.
Formulate marketing strategies and programs to capitalize on identified opportunities.
Manage risk for the business segment through trading of basis, futures, options, spreads, physical delivery mechanics and freight.
Interact with key customer accounts and maintain ongoing and regular communications with customers to enhance relationships and customer service.
Work closely with various internal groups to help maximize the potential of ADM’s vast network.
Help facilitate an environment which fosters teamwork and continuous improvement.
Track progress towards the achievement of business plans and objectives, as outlined, and initiates action as required.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: University degree in agriculture or business (i.
e.
economics, finance, accounting).
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast paced work environment.
Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the domestic & international trade.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers.
Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database and word processing software applications within a windows based operating environment.
