*Position Overview:*
As a Daycare Cook, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the nutritional needs of children in our daycare facility are met.
You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving meals and snacks that align with dietary guidelines and requirements.
Your role will contribute significantly to the overall well-being and development of the children under our care.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* *Menu Planning:* Design nutritious and balanced menus suitable for children of varying ages, taking into consideration dietary restrictions, allergies, and cultural preferences.
* *Food Preparation:* Prepare meals and snacks according to planned menus, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards.
This includes washing, chopping, cooking, and portioning food appropriately.
* *Cooking and Serving:* Execute cooking tasks efficiently, ensuring that meals are served at appropriate times and temperatures.
Serve meals in a manner that is appealing and conducive to the dining experience of children.
* *Food Safety and Hygiene:* Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene protocols, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment at all times.
Follow proper storage procedures to prevent spoilage and contamination.
* *Allergy Management:* Be vigilant about allergies and dietary restrictions among children, ensuring that meals are prepared and served safely to accommodate these needs.
* *Inventory Management:* Monitor inventory levels of food and kitchen supplies, and communicate needs to management in a timely manner.
Assist in the ordering and receiving of supplies as necessary.
* *Cleaning and Maintenance:* Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas regularly.
Ensure that kitchen appliances are in proper working condition and report any maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
* *Communication:* Maintain open and clear communication with daycare staff regarding meal plans, special dietary considerations, and any other relevant information pertaining to food service.
* *Documentation:* Keep accurate records of meals served, including menus, portion sizes, and any incidents related to food safety or dietary concerns.
Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
*Qualifications and Skills:*
* Must be able to pass background checks applicable for Daycare employees (DHHS Child abuse list, State Fingerprint check, Etc)
* Previous experience in food service or a similar role, preferably in a childcare setting.
* Knowledge of nutrition principles and dietary requirements for children.
* Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.
* Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate changing menus and dietary needs.
* Certification in food handling and safety (e.
g.
, Food Handler's Permit) is desirable.
*Physical Requirements:*
* Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
* Stamina to work in a busy kitchen environment and perform repetitive tasks.
*Working Conditions:*
* This role is typically performed indoors in a kitchen setting within a daycare facility.
* Work hours may vary, including early mornings and over lunch times, depending on the needs of the daycare center.
