The Defense Group of Leidos has a current job opportunity for a Junior DevOps Engineer supporting the C4ISR Solutions Operation.
The candidate will guide the definition, implementation, and delivery of programs focused on modernizing a variety of software systems.
The selected candidate will leverage their skills to provide their expertise in infrastructure provisioning and configuration and software deployment across the software development lifecycle.
In this role, there is the potential to support multiple contracts to help provide growth and broadening opportunities within Leidos.
Primary Responsibilities Leverage open-source and in-house tools to manage infrastructure via code, designing reusable infrastructure components for scalable, highly available, secure architectures for container-based and non-container-based applications.
Provide input and expertise to senior engineers to maintain alignments with best practices and recommend system improvements while overseeing the automated deployment, roll-back, and monitoring of applications into software development, test, and production environment Develop automated CI/CD build/deployment pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and Ansible.
Apply DevOps expertise to ensure congruence of the various infrastructure, software, configurations, and interfaces maintained under configuration control.
Work with an Agile team, attend daily scrums; communicating and collaborating frequently with teammates to ensure successful completion of project objectives.
Troubleshoot and resolve installation, infrastructure, and system issues.
Proactively and independently identify, report, monitor, and mitigate technical risks.
Basic Qualifications Pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a relevant technical discipline and 1+ year of related experience obtained through any combination of coursework and internships.
May be able to consider additional experience in lieu of a degree.
Familiarity and understanding of DevOps trends and technologies.
Working knowledge of Git and experience with development workflows in GitLab, Bitbucket, or an equivalent tool.
Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker/Podman and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems, network administration, and networking protocols/functions (e.
g.
, HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, SMTP, DNS.
) Experience with Linux/UNIX command line.
Familiarity with Agile concepts.
Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills, including the ability to logically create structure and order from unstructured inputs.
Self-starter who is able to work independently while possessing the communication skills to work effectively with software development teams, customers, and senior Leidos leadership.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Requires an active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS.
Preferred Qualifications Experience designing, developing, and deploying software in a cloud environment (AWS is a plus).
Experience designing, building, and deploying DevOps pipelines with GitLab, Jenkins, and Ansible (or equivalent tools).
Experience designing and implementing application deployment pipelines and developing software in a containerized environment with Kubernetes and Docker.
Experience with Kubernetes application deployment/management tools such as Helm or Kustomize.
Experience with GitOps concepts and related tools such as Argo CD.
Full software lifecycle automation experience (design, development, test, deployment), including deployment to a production environment.
Experience designing and building automated software testing pipelines using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, Junit, and/or other applicable tools.
Previous SCM experience, including release planning, managing software baselines, merging branches, and producing software builds.
Experience with Atlassian tools, including GitLab integrations with JIRA and Confluence.
Experience integrating code review systems into the SCM process.
Experience with static code analysis, particularly security scans.
Experience working with Agile software development teams and implementing continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
Experience developing and deploying software in a DoD environment (DISA experience is a plus), including experience building and deploying software applications that meet DoD security standards and updating applications and code to meet security scans and security implementation guidelines (e.
g.
STIGs).
Top-Secret clearance Professional cybersecurity certification such as Security+, or similar.
