*WORK LOCATION*
DOTComm is located in Omaha, NE.
Initially, work location will be onsite at DOTComm’s office located in downtown Omaha with the possibility of becoming hybrid with the ability to commute to office and client locations for occasional in-person meetings.
*POSITION SUMMARY* As a Desktop Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring and administering the enterprise desktop environment.
This includes the configuration, maintenance, and availability of the desktop devices and desktop systems used by clients and internal staff; administration of the enterprise infrastructure monitoring application; and proactive review of operational logs to identify service issues.
*Duties/Responsibilities* * Participates in the design, development, and support activities in the desktop engineering space that enables a simple and positive user experience.
* Provides input to DOTComm’s desktop strategy, by evaluating and recommending new technologies and solutions.
* Drives hardware/software technology solutions that provide a positive user experience, are reliable, and are security forward.
* Adheres to change management processes, including but not limited to attending weekly CAB meetings as well as documenting, presenting, and executing change requests.
* Assists in the creation, deployment, and maintenance of workstation images, seeking to automate and streamline operational tasks whenever possible.
* Performs escalated support for DOTComm-provided hardware, such as personal computers, mobile devices, peripherals, and collaboration equipment.
This includes being on-call to provide this support as well as other after-hours support.
* Configures, implements, and supports a virtualized desktop environment.
* Participates in the design, development, and support activities around audiovisual systems and mobility i.
e.
O365 and collaboration tools.
* Participates in planning, configuring, and deploying the MECM and JAMF environment which includes: * _Managing and maintaining the deployment platform.
_ * _Automating workstation deployment.
_ * _Packaging, deploying, and troubleshooting all workstation software.
_ * _Designing and implementing silent/unattended installs and scripting (Powershell).
_ * _Performing patch management activities as assigned including desktop applications.
_ * Manages and maintains Microsoft Bitlocker Administration.
* Coordinates and performs Active Directory management activities.
* _Adds, creates and modifies workstation Organizational Units (OUs)_ * _Administers configuration and security settings via Microsoft Group Policy_ * Administers the DOTComm Operations Center.
* Participates in creating/updating documentation of build, backup, and recovery procedures of assigned systems.
* Utilizes the DOTComm ITSM tool as required.
* Communicates system trends, issues, and outages to management and peers.
* Participates in various projects involving desktop engineering activities, shares information as needed, and performs required technical integration as it relates to these projects.
* Participates in preparing and maintaining team procedure documentation.
* Supports the Service Desk with technical assistance through effective collaboration and provides technical support and troubleshooting to staff at all levels of the organization.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
*REQUIREMENTS* _Education_ Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or MIS preferred.
_Experience_ * 4 years performing desktop and desktop system support.
* 1 year experience in desktop configuration management and production support.
* Strong working knowledge of Scripting (Powershell, VB, Wise Scripting) * Experience with Microsoft and Apple IOS desktop management and software distribution technologies, troubleshooting of MECM agent, software distribution troubleshooting, Virtual desktop administration (Citrix), Active Directory hierarchy, and Group Policy.
* Experience working with monitoring platforms (Solarwinds) * Experience supporting a large campus, multi-tenant, or large enterprise environment is highly desired.
_Certificates & Licenses_ Industry certifications such as MCSE, CNCT, CCA, or MCITP are preferred.
_Other Requirements_ * Broad understanding of TCP/IP and networking foundations.
* Familiarity with collaboration technologies such as audio/video conferencing systems.
