Senior Roadway Engineer

Responsibilities: What you'll be challenged to do: TranSystems is seeking a Roadway Project Engineer responsible for the design and preparation of plan submittals related to highway and arterial roadway design, complex intersection design, local roadways, site design, bridge replacement/rehabilitation, traffic design, drainage design for MoDOT, KDOT, NDOT and Iowa DOT and other various DOTs and municipal agencies.
This is a technical position with future management and business related opportunities.
General Duties & Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Perform engineering tasks related to the planning and design of transportation facilities such as freeways, arterials, intersections, railroad and drainage.
Be part of a Design Team that produces plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules for transportation construction projects.
Duties include preparing engineering reports, performing engineering calculations and analysis and furnishing technical documentation for design projects.
Works tasks generally pertain to planning and design functions for highways, arterials, traffic, drainage and site design.
Attendance at meetings and interaction with clients should be expected.
Effective written and oral communication skills are imperative.
Work with or preferably lead the design team in completion of technical efforts of other team members in the completion of design projects including roadway, traffic, drainage and site design projects and reports.
Assist or preferably lead the project management of projects both technically and financially to meet the clients expectations in completing quality projects on-time and on budget.
Answer any questions and review shop drawings during the construction phase of the project.
Participate in business development activities.
Qualifications: What you bring to our firm: Bachelor’s degree in the Civil engineering field required.
Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and various engineering software systems depending on engineering discipline: AutoCAD; MicroStation/GeoPak; In Roads, Land Desktop, and Civil 3D.
Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer within one year of employment.

What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm: At least 4 years of design experience EIT or EI license Experience with NDOT and IaDOT design build Work Environment: The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
